I would apologize but if you have visited the blog more than once, you have probably already been apologized to for my sporadic updating. Like most people, my day-to-day existence is less than noteworthy. Even down here in the islands you go to work, grocery store, laundry, etc. That's not to say that there aren't some pretty fantastic days down here. The photos in this update are from a recent afternoon when my boss and I got out of the office for an afternoon sail.
So I decided to shake things up a little bit. In an attempt to get some new material for the blog, I've decided to try another island...in another ocean. Okay, maybe the blog isn't the underlying reason for the move. But it is as good as any other, I suppose. It is more of a 'why not' thing than a 'why' thing. I have a good job and great friends here in the Virgin Islands but I'm ready to soak in something new.
So the solution to my problem - American Samoa. Typically the revelation is met with something like, "Huh?" or "Where's that?" American Samoa is an island chain not dissimilar from the Virgin Islands. It is not close, however. It is around halfway between Hawaii and Australia - a little closer to Australia.
It will be a couple of months yet. I've committed to hanging around until my office can get a replacement up to speed. I expect that it'll be somewhere between June and July, and then I'm off to Pago Pago. I'm interested in seeing how the epic South Pacific stacks up against the idyllic Caribbean. Either way, I expect it will be an adventure. Stay tuned for more.

That's a long f**kin' swim.
